Presenting
CLAUDE PACAUD
Artiste Peintre

Claude Pacaud was born in Montmorillon and has a
studio in the centre of the town, by the Tourist Office.
His work was initially inspired by a trip to
Provence in 1970. The colours and fragrances of the Lavender and Poppies
and La Montagne Sainte-Victoire, made famous by Paul Cézanne. After this
visit Claude painted more and had his first exhibition in 1992.
In 1998 Claude became a professional artist. After
years of frustration trying to combine running a tabacco shop and his love
of painting, the shop was sold. He built a studio in the attic of his
house and spent day and night recreating his dreams of Provence.
In 2003 he moved into his current studio, a shop formerly owned by his
wife.
Claude has a style of his own. His current passion
is poppies. He works with a thousand shades of red and a trowel to create
works which are a stunning combination of figuration and abstraction.
Note from Sharon & Paul Tomlin We love
Claude's work and always make a point checking out his window for new work
whenever we are in the centre of town. His work is vibrant, refreshing and
captures a beautiful image of France.
Visit his website for more examples of his
work and details of exhibitions.
